Privacy policy
Nelqa is a directory of phone numbers and places in Algeria. This page says, in plain words, what we collect, why, who we share it with and how you stay in control.
Last updated:
Who we are
The Nelqa app (Android package: com.nelqa.app). For anything about your data: [email protected].
What we collect
- Account: you sign in with Google (and Apple on iPhone). We receive your name, email address and avatar from that account. We never see your password.
- What you add: the places, numbers, corrections and reviews you contribute, and your favorites.
- Location: if you allow it, the app uses your approximate or precise location on the phone to find your nearest city. We do not track you continuously or in the background, and we keep no history of your movements.
- Ads: the app shows ads from advertising partners, who may use your device advertising ID. Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area), a consent choice appears before any personalized ad.
- Usage analytics: we use usage and behaviour analysis tools to understand how the app is used (screens, interactions, device identifiers). It is optional and only runs with your consent where the law requires it.
- Crash reports: we use error and crash analysis tools to receive crash reports (device model, OS version, cause of the crash).
- Website waitlist: if you enter your email on nelqa.com to join the waitlist, it is stored with an email service provider so we can write to you when the app opens. We use it for nothing else, and you can unsubscribe at any time from the message or by writing to us.
Why
- To run your account and show your contributions and favorites.
- To find your nearest city and sort results.
- To fund the app with ads so it stays free.
- To fix crashes and improve the app.
- To limit abuse and fake numbers.
Data protection and privacy
We store your data securely, it travels encrypted, and access is limited to what is needed to run the service. We use trusted service providers to run the app, and they are required to protect it.
We never sell or rent your data. We share it only as far as needed to run the service or to show ads as explained above, or if the law requires us to.
No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data and review them regularly.
Places and numbers in the directory
Part of the directory is added by users and part comes from public data sources; it is shown without any link to a personal account.
Nelqa only provides visibility: we are not responsible for what the listed providers do, or for fraud or fake announcements from them or from other users (see the terms of use).
If you find your phone number or your business in the app and you disagree, you can quickly claim ownership of it from within the app. You then have full control over it: you edit or remove it yourself.
Your rights
Under Algerian law 18-07 on the protection of individuals in the processing of personal data, and under the GDPR if you live in Europe, you have the right to:
- access your data;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- object to its processing or withdraw your consent at any time.
How to use them
Write to [email protected]. We may ask you to prove your identity to protect your account. We answer within 30 days.
Retention
- Account data: as long as the account exists, and deleted within 30 days after you delete it.
- Analytics and crash reports: only as long as needed to fix and improve the app.
- Directory contributions: they stay after account deletion but are no longer attached to you (see the delete account page).
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If a child created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Deleting your account
In the app: Profile, then Delete account. Or by email to [email protected]. Details on the delete account page.
Changes to this policy
If we change it in a meaningful way, we update the date above and tell you in the app.
